![]() Might be worth the $$$'s to get a custom grind camshaft that is airboat proven. Something tells me that Dave Hart is quite educated in the airboat camshaft department. Waterthunder has experimented with many grinds and I have been around his engines. If you get some more camshaft in her, and get your peak torque # coming in at a higher RPM, I would think she will swing way more prop with a redrive. So, why make peak torque 3500 where she is not loaded. This engine really will not be loaded very hard at 3500, if she is governed 5200 static. If you plan to govern your engine 52-5400, she has run out of steam way early. You can make peak torque 3500 with the camshaft listed. It is possible that you are leaving some power on the table. But, as far as getting the goods out of the 383 with BAMF Vortec heads, I would think you could be shy of what could be possible. From one stop sign to the next, reaching 3500-4000 rpm tops, she would be a great grocery getter. She will have some real manifold vacuum at idle also. This camshaft will help your engine idle real good. Extremely conservative when using a re-drive. ![]()
